Your passion – Please share one sentence about why you enjoy what you do?
I love making a positive impact on people’s lives – whether it be by connecting them to a new job or employee, encouraging them to be more confident in the work market, or by helping small businesses grow their presence on social media.
Briefly describe your industry’s most common marketing challenges or obstacles, or other marketing-related topics that come to mind (if you have them).
Recruitment is a very time-specific need for most companies. That means that my marketing has to be exactly timed to the moment when my services are needed, or I have to be on top of mind all the time so that I will be the first one to get the call when the need arises. There is no 2-minute customer pipeline, as the service is also quite time-consuming, thus a remarkable investment, compared to a 5-euro knick-knack. Consistency is key, and I have struggled with it quite a bit because… life happens.
How can being part of a community like Powerful Marketers benefit someone’s professional and personal growth?
Accountability partners, group discussions, brainstorming together, and getting honest feedback – all these are invaluable as a small entrepreneur. The right community can become your team in a way, helping you see unknown solutions and supporting you while you grow and expand your comfort zone.
For example, thanks to PM, I did my first 100 cold calls last year. It was, of course, uncomfortable, but a great experience nevertheless. I’m sure it grew my communication and listening skills a lot, and truth be told, it should be just the beginning.
Also, I truly believe in cooperation. Especially smaller businesses should always find ways to support each other, create value together, and make marketing more fun (without splurging) by finding ways to create joint campaigns. Just think outside the box, and I’m sure you’ll find many ideas for common marketing projects.
Please share tips on how to find good digital marketing partners.
Recruitment and marketing are similar in a lot of ways. Here are a few lessons I’ve learned along the way that might be helpful for any business owner or leader.
1. Always start by picturing your ideal customer/partner/candidate. You can’t get to where you want if you don’t know where that is.
2. You are building your (employer) brand all the time. It is your choice whether to do it consciously. Every interaction you have leaves an impression.
3. Always treat everyone with respect. Just be kind. To the client who asks you random, annoying questions, or to the candidate who doesn’t meet your criteria by a long shot. You never know. Just be kind.
4. There is no “one solution fits all” shortcut. Marketing and recruitment both deal with people and psychology, and there is nothing more interesting (read: complicated) than people. Take the time to find what works best for your company.
5. Communication brings success. Whether you work with a marketer, a recruiter, or both, nobody can deny that most avoidable issues come from a lack of communication. Rather “over-communicate” than assume.
In conclusion, Laura Kassin’s insights are a reminder of the human element behind both recruitment and marketing. Her emphasis on kindness, communication, and community reflects the values we champion at Powerful Marketers.
Whether you’re navigating marketing challenges or striving for personal growth, having the right support system can make all the difference. We’re proud to have professionals like Laura in our community, leaders who inspire others not just through expertise, but through empathy and collaboration.
